Not only have changes in moisture content become evident, but a strong treatment effect is apparent also.
Split assortments have displayed consistently lower moisture content than other treatments since late June.
In addition, the covered treatments gained less moisture during wet periods than the uncovered treatments.
On average, the covered treatments increased their moisture content by less than 1% during wet weather conditions,
whilst uncovered treatment increased by 3.2% during the same periods.
Bulk volume/solid volume conversion factors were computed to determine the storage requirements of each treatment.
Treatments 1, 2, 5 and 6 which were round assortments had a lower bulk volume/solid volume conversion factor than treatments 3, 4, 7 and 8 which were split assortments. This indicates that the split assortments require more space for storage than round assortments, approximately 20.6% more space.
